Center Events

The Milwaukee LGBT Community Center offers to its members and guests as well as the general public a variety of social activities and special events that celebrate the LGBT spirit in metro Milwaukee. Some of these events are fundraisers and others are friend-raisers, but regardless of the focus of the event, all are meant to provide opportunities for social networking and for enhancing the vibrancy of Milwaukee’s LGBT community.

Each year, the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center hosts an annual special event. This year two such events (a Hard Hat Party and an Opening Ceremony) will be held to help support and celebrate the relocation of the Community Center. Check the Events Calendar on our main home page to see the specific dates and times when these two special events will be held this year.

In addition to special events, the Center conducts two holiday online auctions that may or may not be attached to a special social gathering. These online auctions provide a catalog of donated items, certificates and services that registered participants may bid on to win as gifts for themselves, family members, friends, co-workers and neighbors. The online auction Cupid’s Arrow occurs around Valentine’s Day, Queen of the May celebrates May Day, Mother’s Day, and graduations, and Home for the Holidays is held between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Check the Events Calendar on our main home page to see which two holiday online auctions will be held this year.

Each quarter, the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center hosts a Community Breakfast, which brings together members of the LGBT community and their allies to discuss topical issues. These special breakfast gathering provide a unique opportunity for people not only to learn something important about or significant to the LGBT community but also to discuss ideas and exchange beliefs, perceptions and attitudes. Previous topics explored at our Community Breakfasts include intergenerational LGBT issues, transgender awareness, financial well-being, and coping with the holidays. Check the Events Calendar on our main home page to see when the next Community Breakfast will be held.

Three to four times a year, the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center also hosts a Mix n’ Mingle social gathering for members and their friends to enjoy an entertainment evening out on the town. Previous Mix n’ Mingle events include a cooking demonstration at the Milwaukee Public Market, a game night at The Iron Horse Hotel, and a tour of the Cedar Creek Winery in historic Cedarburg. Each event runs approximately two hours, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., usually on a week night. Check the Events Calendar on our main home page to see when and where the next Mix n’ Mingle gathering will be held.
